Legal Aid Mediation

Manchester Family Mediation Solutions have a contract from the Legal Aid Agency and can offer Legal Aid for those who are eligible Costs (Legal Aid & Private) .

At your initial MIAM appointment our mediator will carry out an assessment, which is based on your income, any capital you may have and selected outgoings.

The assessment will be carried out whilst you are present and is dependent upon the correct documentation being provided. If you provide the correct documentation you will be informed instantly whether or not you are eligible for Legal Aid.

Please Note: Due to a recent change in legislation, if one party is eligible for Legal Aid both parties will receive a free Mediation Information Assessment Meeting (MIAM) and a free joint mediation appointment. Examples of the documents you may have to provide include:

Wage slips Childcare costs Tax return Bank statements
Proof of maintenance Proof of benefit (JSA, ESA, Income Support)

What does it mean to be Eligible for Legal Aid?

If you are eligible for Legal Aid your mediation will be completely free of charge
Whilst engaged in mediation you may also be entitled to some assistance from your Solicitor (help with mediation)

Manchester Family Mediation Solutions also offer mediation to those who are not eligible for Legal Aid and charge on a “per person” basis for mediation that is undertaken.

MIAMs appointment – Applicant | £120 (Inc VAT)
(If mediation does not proceed this also covers the cost of the relevant paperwork required)
MIAMs appointment – Respondent | No Fee Our Mediation Process
Joint Mediation Session – both parties | £200 (per person inc VAT) (1hour 30minutes)
Child Only Management Fee, including Summary | £50.00 (Per Person inc VAT)
All Issues / Financial Case Management Fee including Summary & Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) | £100 (Per Person inc VAT)
Manchester Family Mediation Solutions do not make any additional charges for phone calls, letters or emails.
